Bookstore owner A.J. Fikry is feeling low due to circumstances in his life. He lost his wife in a tragic accident, and his business is suffering financial loss. He's also feeling left out by a rapidly changing world. As he resorts to drinking, he suffers one final blow, the theft of his prized Edgar Allan Poe poem collection. One day, a mysterious package arrives, and things soon take his life in a different direction.
