Writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson's turbo-charged, slam-bang tune-up of Roger Corman's 1975 cult vehicle "Death Race 2000" follows the non-stop action taking place during a do-or-die contest pitting a convict (Jason Statham) against other cons, with the winner walking off with his freedom. Anderson admits to being "a big fan of the Corman movie," and this reworking is a glowing salute to Corman's original. Corman also serves as one of the film's producers, along with Anderson and Tom Cruise.
