Claus von Bülow was charged and convicted for the murder of his wealthy socialite wife Sunny after she inexplicably slipped into a coma that was deemed irreversible by medical practitioners. He hires Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz to appeal for a retrial, who loves the challenge of getting the verdict overturned despite his own belief that Claus is actually guilty.
